Week 17

With our 2 hour paintings taking the majority, we speed it up with a 45 min piece! When I first saw this concept I thought, ok great, I know what it's all about. Starting to pull out paints, I saw this color in a nuance here or that there and then more and more colors!!! Then I looked down and the palette was absolutely full of color!  

We choose to stand for this one which made it much easier to maneuver. It's no secret I'm slower than Alex and in mixing my paints to add a fabulous bit of green, he came up behind me and quickly put strokes down before I could touch it. He had no idea as he hugged me that he cut me off! I joked about him stealing my bit of canvas and he joked about my speed, but in the end, it was so fun and very free piece. A piece I felt unsure as I started as to how I wanted to proceed, but as I dived- first with eyes tightly closed, the rush became intoxicating and I found myself free. The strokes and colors came with little thought - as if I'd been painting with muscle memory. Maybe that is a glimpse of how it will become.
