Week 28
Every minute that goes by before starting art in the evening drags on. Partly because I can't wait to begin and partly because once midnight hits - I know my mom was right. You DO turn into a pumpkin. I just didn't know it was an affliction that plagued a very specific set of women at a specific time in life- motherhood.
Nevertheless, this piece was one I was very excited to do. I love the freeness of the woman's spirit and the movement of her body and dress. It's a moment we all know the feeling of and crave: contentment, freedom, oneness.
Laert was inspired by Monet's Woman with an Umbrella to do this one. I had not spent much time with that image and had pictured doing it differently. I have to trust him a lot as he guides the project. As she started to take shape I began to fall in love with her. Sometimes you plan one thing out, and it changes but it's just change. You can love it too. Maybe even more.
