LIBERATED
Week 99
Working on this life size piece Laert and I had an even rhythm, falling in and out of soft and crisp, lines and textures. We allowed for the warmth of the wood to emanate life and to let it smolder in other places.
It was quiet work tonight, it felt sacred. Our muse originally was a bit self conscious, but her vulnerability I saw as strength. The softness of the skin next to the crisp white shirt, water-wicked into pliability gave the perfect contrast. The ripples of the deep, thoughtful pool create a moodiness against the lightness of her figure and striking nature of her visage. I feel the cool spring water wrap around her thighs but it does not draw a shudder. Her look, although downwards, is not subtle or demure. It does not beg, wonder or apologize. It is content, confident and at peace. She is in every way as she should be, fully woman, divinely made, and here in her domain, whole and free.
