MOMENT IN GOLD
MOMENT IN GOLD
Week 88
It doesn’t always come this way. Tonight the water came effortlessly, in large strokes with pinks and Naples, and the King’s Blue and Cobalts flaunted themselves in the ripples of evening gold. It was a beautiful meditation in color and movement. Laert stood fast as he gave flesh to our stag, and I moved around him fluidly, paced and working as one.
The image was from a mad search in the Florida Keys to find the ‘Key deer’ the last day we were there. We drove in the daily afternoon rain, hoping it would clear by the time we found the island where they were. And lucky we were. The rain cleared, bowing to the magnificent sun in its evening decent. The miniature deer were beautiful, curious, proud and certainly unafraid. While his herd enjoyed our commune with fresh corn, this stag looked vigilantly out over the land and shallows. He seemed to exalt in the sun as a Prince to his King. It was a moment of gratitude, bathed in gold.
