The Dream
The Dream
Week 103
The water lapped lasciviously at our ankles, warm, wide and secretive. Our model sat, a deep brooding gaze upon her otherwise clear young face. The tumble of thick, wild branches frame her slight form, contrasting a body is at ease, toes digging small holes in the warm silt.
Heat emanates from the moist bramble bringing the sweet smell of wet early fall. Her seat, a partially immersed log shimmers in the light with cinnabar moss and bright golds. Above her, gold and copper leaves hang glinting in the sunlight. Looking out over the water from the small wooded cove, what does she see?
This is the second to last one for this series. It was a challenge and both of us struggled. We were excited to begin a new project and so threw ourselves into the gold leafing with fervor. Because our image was really a small looped video we joked it was as if we had a live model sitting in the waves! As it took shape, we noticed our contrast was frustrated due to the brilliant nature of the gold leaf. Coming back on top of our preliminary work, we threw in more vividness to keep her from paling into oblivion next to such brilliant leaves. She was patient and kind as she emerged. Waiting, brooding, dreaming.
