The Path
The Path
Week 72
This very large composition is so moody with a subdued, lugubrious color palette. The clouds and light are delightfully temperamental, giving a sense of tranquility amidst the gathering storm. This valley path, taken so often, holds the women as a familiar friend and they fear for nothing.
This painting takes from 4 images, in actuality or inspiration. We used shots from the Smokies as well as from our recent trip to the Fort Worth Log Cabin Village. This was in conjunction with a color palette from a favorite Monet. This piece challenged us both, in composition, lighting and color. Not having one clear outcome in mind, it was exploratory and wonderful. The painting had it’s own desire to be created - working along with us- emerging and then unfurling it’s glorious wings.
