Week 144

This is day two of exploring watercolor together. This vibrant sunset is from Christmas Day, walking in the park near my Mother in Law’s home. Our family of four launched out into the wintery day to get some fresh air. We were walking at a halting pace, stopping to meet each dog and neighbor. The children’s joy and ours was a warm blanket surrounding us. As we turned the corner to come back, the sun had finally crested over the trees and rooftops, alighting a fantastic flare of vibrancy across the sky and bathing the dry Texas grasses in golds, deep oranges and playful Naples yellow. We did not limit our palette but instead let the light move us as we found which pigments could achieve the intensity we were experiencing. It was freeing at the same time as offering a cloaking in contentment.
